Trailer – “Vivo”

By Matt Neglia

Netflix has released the trailer for “Vivo” starring the voice talents of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Zoe Saldaña, Juan de Marcos, Brian Tyree Henry, Michael Rooker, Nicole Byer, Ynairaly Simo & Gloria Estefan. It will be released on Netflix on August 6th.

Click below to see the trailer.

Plot Synopsis:
From Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation comes VIVO. This musically gifted kinkajou (aka a rainforest “honey bear”) embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to deliver a song to his cherished owner’s long-lost love, with the help of Gabi – an energetic tween who bounces to the beat of her own offbeat drum.

What do you all think of the trailer? While he’s threatening to be overexposed with the multitude of projects he has this year, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s voice talent looks well utilized in this colorful and lively celebration of music, culture, and life with mature themes of grief and moving on through dark times. I’m usually not that impressed by his singing, but his performance as Vivo is filled with exuberance and the right touch of softness. Ynairaly Simo also looks to be pretty good here as Gabi. While I’m not sure if this will be a Best Animated Feature contender with the crowded year we have, the song “Keep The Beat” is catchy enough to land in the Best Original Song race probably. You can check out the song here. What do you think, though? Let us know your thoughts though in the comments below or on our Twitter account.
