Trailer – “Spencer”

By Matt Neglia

NEON has released the trailer for Pablo Larrain’s “Spencer” starring Kristen Stewart, Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, Sean Harris & Sally Hawkins. The film will have its world premiere at this year’s Venice International Film Festival and then be released in theaters on November 5th.

Click below to see the trailer.

Plot Synopsis: The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. SPENCER is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days.

What do you all think of the trailer? Ladies and gentlemen….introducing “Jackie 2!!” But seriously, wow, this looks every bit as good as Pablo Larrain’s 2016 acclaimed film. It’ll be interesting to see what he learned from that film and what has changed or if it will be so similar that “Spencer” fails to carve its own unique identity out for itself (especially when inevitable comparisons to “The Crown” will also exist). Kristen Stewart looks absolutely incredible, as do the costumes, cinematography, and production design. I’m also a big fan of Scala and Kolancy Brothers, and their song “Perfect Day” perfectly captures the hauntingly beautiful and melancholy vibe this trailer is going for. One of my most anticipated of the year. Awards season is truly upon us! Let us know your thoughts though in the comments below or on our Twitter account.
