“The Tender Bar” is the latest film by George Clooney, which tells the simple but inspiring story of J.R. Moehringer (whose memoir the film is based on), who dealt with struggles related to his absent father and class. Production Designer Kalina Ivanov was responsible for not only crafting period sets during the pandemic but environments that would subliminally inform the audience about the characters, the journey J.R. was going on, and take us through multiple decades. She was kind enough to speak with me about her work on the film, which you can listen to down below. Be sure to check out the film, now playing in theaters and arriving on Prime Video on January 7th, 2022. Enjoy!
