Focus Features To Distribute Graham Moore’s “The Outfit”

By Danilo Castro

Oscar-winning screenwriter Graham Moore is making the transition to directing. According to Deadline, Moore has struck a deal with Focus Features to release his directorial debut, “The Outfit.”

Moore, who took home the Best Adapted Screenplay award for “The Imitation Game,” will direct and co-write “The Outfit” with actor/writer Jonathan McClain. The film is about Leonard, an English tailor who formerly crafted suits on London’s famous Savile Row. A personal tragedy has led him to relocate to Chicago, where he operates a small tailor shop during a rough period in history. As it turns out, the only people who can afford his luxury clothes are a family of local gangsters.

“The Outfit” boasts a stellar cast and crew. Oscar-winner Mark Rylance will star as Leonard, while secondary roles will be inhabited by Dylan O’Brien (“The Maze Runner”), Zoey Deutch (“Set It Up“), and Johnny Flynn (“Stardust”). Oscar-nominee Dick Pope will take the reins as director of photography, while fellow Oscar-nominees Gemma Jackson and William Goldenberg will handle production design and editing, respectively.

Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski issued a statement on the film and the studio’s eagerness to work with Moore. “Like so many, we were blown away by Graham’s award-winning work in ‘The Imitation Game’ and are thrilled to take part in his directorial debut,” he stated. “His storytelling talents seem limitless, and the caliber of artists he’s sewn together both behind and in front of the camera for ‘The Outfit’ will undoubtedly bring this thriller to life in an exciting way.”

“The Outfit” is set to begin shooting this March in London. Focus Features has pre-bought the world rights to the film from FilmNation Entertainment, with the latter serving as the financier. A release date has not yet been issued.
