By Matt Neglia With the Gotham Awards and the National Board Of Review kick starting off the Oscar Season by awarding both "Manchester By The Sea" & "Moonlight," we now turn our attention towards the New York Film Critics Circle which will announce their winners tomorrow.
And to wrap up this week in podcasts we bring you both our review and spoiler discussion of writer/director Tom Ford's followup to "A Single Man," "Nocturnal Animals."
Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes or you can have a listen down below. By Matt Neglia Tomorrow the Broadcast Film Critics (BFCA) will announce their nominations. "Silence," "Passengers," and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" are the only three films which we can expect to not see tomorrow as they did not screen in time, while everything else is fair game. Expect this to be a major Oscar predictor in many key areas. Some categories have 5 predicted nominees where others have 6. While we don't know ultimately how many nominees will end up in each category tomorrow, we are going by how many were nominated last year for our predictions this year. We have also chosen to not predict many of the "genre" categories as our focus is primarily aimed at the corresponding Oscar categories. Our full predictions can be found after clicking below. Please feel free to let us know what yours are and anything you hope to see included tomorrow as well as any potential shocking snubs.
By Matt Neglia The International Press Academy (Satellite Awards) have announced their nominees for 2016 with "La La Land" leading the nominations and "Arrival" shockingly getting shut out. Click below to see the full list of nominees.
By Matt Neglia The National Board Of Review have announced their winners for 2016. Click below to see which films they rewarded.

By Matt Neglia The Gotham Independent Film Awards have just ended and their winners have been announced. Tributes were also given throughout the evening to Oliver Stone, Ethan Hawke, Amy Adams and producer Arnon Milchan. Click below to see the winners.
By Matt Neglia The Annie Awards announced their nominations today for the highest awards in Animation. The feature film awards nominations can be seen below. The rest of the nominations can be found here.
A few notes..."Moana" is missing key nominations in both Writing and Directing showing that the support of the branch may be firmly behind either "Kubo And The Two Strings" or "Zootopia." Also, "Sausage Party" which Sony is campaigning hard managed only a single nomination in editing. The Next Best Picture Podcast: Episode 13 - Our Newest Member, BFCA Preview & The "Silence" Trailer11/28/2016

By Matt Neglia The trailer for legendary director Martin Scorsese's latest (And also his passion project for nearly 30 years) "Silence" has FINALLY landed online one month before it is set to open on December 23rd in limited release. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson.
Click below to see the trailer. By Matt Neglia The 2017 Independent Spirit Award Nominations have been announced. The criteria for these films is that they must be American films with a budget of less than $20 million. Click below to see the full list of nominees and be sure to tell us what your preliminary picks are.
By Matt Neglia Sound off in the comments people. The Independent Spirit Award Nominations are tomorrow and we want to know what you think will be represented and what you hope will be represented. We expect big things for both "Manchester By The Sea" and "Moonlight." We also know that "La La Land" will not be eligible. Will "American Honey" make an appearance? Maybe "20th Century Women?" How about films from earlier in the year such as "Hell Or High Water," "Swiss Army Man," "Captain Fantastic" or "The Lobster?"
On Episode 12 we go over reactions to both "Patriot's Day" and "Hidden Figures" as well as our thoughts on Best Supporting Actor, film news and trailer reactions to "Beauty And The Beast" and "The Zookeeper's Wife."
Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes or you can have a listen down below.
This week our main review is the new David Yates and J.K. Rowling collaboration "Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them." Cinema Throwdown also makes a return here not having been heard since our "Snowden" episode where we debate over which Harry Potter film is truly the best. The winner depends on you, as you can tell us in the comments down below.

Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes or you can have a listen down below. By Matt Neglia The following films have all been submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for consideration in the Best Animated Feature category. The way that the voting works is that members from the animation branch are required to see at least two thirds of the eligible films and then rate them on a scale of 6-10. Films which receive an average vote of 7.5 will remain and as long as there are over 5, we will have five nominees. If not, then we'll have 3. And in a very long shot, if only one film receives the rating then a special award will be given to that film. The list can be found below...
We are very excited about this one. Not only do Will and I review Mel Gibson's latest film "Hacksaw Ridge" but afterwards, Will conducts an interview with the Sound Mixer on the film, 20 time Oscar nominee, Kevin O'Connell.
Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes or you can have a listen down below. By Matt Neglia As the world reacts in astonishment at what transpired yesterday evening in regards to the 2016 Presidential Election results, we here at NextBestPicture.com are trying to understand what this means for this year's Oscar Race? It's no surprise that in previous election years, the films which won were a reflection of how the country was feeling at that time and were chosen almost as statements than based upon their individual merit. This year's presumed frontrunner is "La La Land" and questions have aroused as to whether another challenger could rise to the occasion and cause an upset just as Donald Trump did last night.
By Matt Neglia Just in time for the holidays this year, we have added exclusive merchandise clothing and other items to the Store on NextBestPicture.com.
Along with all of the "purchase" and amazon links you see throughout the site, all of this new merchandise is a very helpful way for you to support Next Best Picture by spreading the word and helping us to maintain the site. We appreciate any support and/or feedback from you. Thank you.
It's Episode 10 of the Next Best Picture Podcast and this time it's just Will and I as we discuss the first reactions to "Fences," Meryl Streep being awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes & other Oscar & film news along with trailer reactions to "Life," "Gifted," and "T2: Trainspotting."
