By Josh Tarpley After months of rumors and speculation, official reports have come out that David Fincher will be directing the sequel to 2013’s “World War Z.” The project would mark the fourth collaboration between Fincher and Brad Pitt (“Se7en,” “Fight Club,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), and the zombie sequel marks Fincher’s first real foray into the world of blockbusters.
Click beyond the jump to read more about the untitled “World War Z” sequel By Matt Neglia We here at Next Best Picture are very saddened to hear of the loss of director Jonathan Demme who passed away today at the age of 73. Jonathan Demme gave us classic films such as the Academy Award Winning films "The Silence Of The Lambs" & "Philadelphia" along with others such as "Rachel Getting Married" the 2004 remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" & his last film "Riki And The Flash" starring Meryl Streep.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. The Next Best Picture Podcast: Episode 35 - Film News, Oscar Questions & A Very Tired Host!4/25/2017

Click below to see who will preside over this year's jury panel for the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. By Josh Tarpley Director Ben Mackenzie will be reuniting with his “Hell or High Water” stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster for a potential Netflix film, “Outlaw King.” The story will tell the story of Robert the Bruce (or Robert I), the Scottish king who lead the country to freedom from the English during the 14th century. After breaking on to the scene with 2016’s “Hell or High Water,” anything Mackenzie became attached to would be highly anticipated, and it looks like Netflix has scooped him up for the project.

“ACORN and the Firestorm” is set to premiere this weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, and looks to be a contender in this year’s Best Documentary Feature race. The film, co-directed by Reuben Atlas and Sam Pollard, will chronicle the rise and fall of the (now controversial) Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Though the height of ACORN’s popularity was during the 2008 election, the documentary is said to foreshadow our current political climate.
