By Matt Neglia The 89th Academy Awards representing the year 2016 in film has officially come to a close. We hope you enjoyed our podcast recap here as well as my article on how "Moonlight" managed to pull off one of the biggest upsets of all time here. It was quite memorable to say the least.
But now, we have our winner of the 2017 "Predict The Oscars" Contest to unveil. Click below to see if you ranked with the top.

With one day to process the bombshell that was the 89th Academy Awards, myself, Will and Michael are joined by guest Andrew Carden from TheAwardsConnection.com to discuss the Oscars which will go down in history as one of the most shocking ever.
Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes, Stitcher, Player FM or you can have a listen down below. By Matt Neglia Forget about the controversy for a moment. Take a step back from what transpired at first with presumed frontrunner "La La Land" taking the stage to claim the Best Picture prize and hearing the producers give their speeches. A bigger story (Ok, maybe not to most) happened here and that is the fact that when all the shenanigans were over with, "Moonlight" managed to beat "La La Land" for Best Picture.
How did this happen? Click below to find out.

While we are all still trying to recover from last night's Oscars, a horror/comedy from Jordan Peele called "Get Out" was released this weekend to much acclaim and is our main review for this week.
Thank you and please feel free to subscribe on either SoundCloud, Tunein, GooglePlay, iTunes, Stitcher, Player FM or you can have a listen down below. By Matt Neglia So that just happened....
In what will go down in history as probably the most shocking Oscar moment EVER, "La La Land" was announced as the Best Picture winner by a confused Warren Beatty who was looking off to the sides and stalling for time as he had the wrong envelope in his hands (It was Emma Stone's envelope for Best Actress), after winning 6 awards and being the presumed winner for the season, Beatty made the decision to announce "La La Land" as the winner and the team took the stage to accept their award. After a few moments and some sweet (Now awkward) winning speeches, the true winner was revealed to be "Moonlight." The cast and crew of that film took the stage while the "La La Land" crew awkwardly exited, as the audience and the people watching at home tried to get a handle on what had just occurred. There will be so much to discuss on this historic moment and although I'm very happy for "Moonlight," I fear this win will forever be considered a fluke. I cannot wait to discuss this on the podcast this week and for all of you to listen. Thank you so much for following me live on twitter tonight and be sure to stay tuned in the post Oscar season over here at Next Best Picture for more to come on what these wins all mean historically and more moving forward. I was anxiously awaiting the results of the guilds to tell me something with these categories and I think I have my mind made up on at least 2 out of the three categories. With only a few days left until the big show, here is my in-depth analysis of Best Makeup & Hair Styling, Production Design and Costume Design for this year's Oscar.
Click below to read my in-depth analysis. By Matt Neglia With the tech awards officially out of the way, we now turn our eyes to the above the line categories. This year's screenplay categories feel like a done deal in one category while the other is practically a coin flip.
