Movie Trailer: “Marshall”

When he is not kicking ass as Marvel’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman is on a mission to nab big biopic roles for famous African-American. After portraying James Brown in “Get On Up” and Jackie Robinson in “42,” Boseman will portray Thurgood Marshall, the man who would become America’s first African-American Supreme Court Justice. While Marshall is famous for his SCOTUS role and for being the attorney who won Brown v. Board of Education, “Marshall” will adapt the events of a smaller, earlier court case in his life.

The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin who, in addition to various TV directing credits the past decade, picked up an Oscar nomination for producing 2012’s “Django Unchained.” Sterling K. Brown plays Joseph Spell, the defendant accused of sexual assault; and Josh Gad plays Marshall’s partner Sam Friedman.

Based on the trailer and those involved, “Marshall” has all the basis for being a good movie. It looks to be in the same sphere as Tate Taylor’s work (“The Help,” “Get On Up”) and could be a real Oscar player for Boseman if it all works out. Obviously a story like this needs to play up the racial aspects of Marshall’s story, here is hoping the legal battle makes for a thrilling two hour experience.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to “Marshall?” Is there any famous African-American Chadwick Boseman won’t play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
